Golden State Warriors
A little Golden
State Warriors "name history" -
First
founded in 1946 as the "Philadelphia Warriors". The Warriors had a
rough start, and it wasn't until the mid & late 1950's when players
like Paul Arizin, Neil Johnston and Wilt Chamberlain became stars and
soon legends of the game.
In 1962
Franklin Mieuli purchased the majority shares of the team and relocated
the franchise to the San Francisco Bay Area, renaming them the "San
Francisco Warriors".
After only 3 Conference Semifinals wins in 9 years the Warriors were,
in 1971 given their final name, the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors won their only championship on the West Coast in 1974-75.
In what many consider the biggest upset in the history of the NBA, the
Warriors defeated the heavily favored Washington Bullets in a four-game
sweep. That team was coached by former Warrior Al Attles, and led on
the court by Rick Barry, Jamaal Wilkes and Phil Smith...
...After
a sub-par stretch in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the team had
another successful string of wins in the late 1980s to early 1990s with
the high scoring trio of point guard Tim Hardaway, guard Mitch
Richmond, and forward Chris Mullin, collectively known as "Run T-M-C".

Since then the Golden State Warriors have seen a number of players come
and go with close wins, great games and even better players, but never
the gold.
And even though the Warriors haven't won an NBA Championship since 1975
the fans are die hard and the games are loud and proud!
If you want to check out a game and experience some of the best team

Watch out for "SCALPERS" - people selling tickets out on the street
when games are sold out or close to being sold out for a much higher
price than ticket value.
BE CAREFUL!!! More often than not the tickets are FAKE. You wont be
allowed in and they will be confiscated at the ticket gates.
