Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics will celebrate their 40th season in the East Bay with a season-long promotional campaign highlighting the championship tradition, players and moments that have contributed to the colorful past of one of baseball's most successful franchises.*

On May 8, 1968 they moved into the one-year-old McAfee Coliseum, then called the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum. In that game against the Minnesota Twins, Jim "Catfish" Hunter pitched the first perfect game in the American League since 1922.*

As a mater of fact, the A's have produced many great names and moments in their time! Names like Reggie Jackson, Jim "Catfish" Hunter, Rick Langford, Rickey Henderson, Dave Kingman, Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco -- all great players-- all Oakland Athletics!

And no one can forget these Great Moments in A's History...

World Series titles (9)

AL Pennants (15)

West Division titles (14)

Wild card (1)

Also, the Oakland A's are one of the most giving and caring teams I know of. They have over 20 community outreach programs:

THE OAKLAND A'S COMMUNITY FUND

"The Oakland A's Community Fund supports charitable organizations in improving the quality of life for people throughout the Bay Area. Specifically, the fund endeavors to improve educational programs, aid the underprivileged, assist in crime and drug prevention, promote health awareness, and champion children and senior welfare. The Community Fund believes in the need to invest in the community's future." *oakland.athletics.mlb.com

My Side Note: I go to Oakland A's games all the time! They are super easy to get to (take the BART - either the Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton Line and get off at Coliseum/Oakland Airport) and it's always warmer in Oakland! Not to mention, it seems like as the years go by, the players are getting better and better looking! :~)

So come across the Bay and experience an Oakland Athletics game! Look below to check out the HOME GAME schedule and to buy tickets!

BE CAREFUL!!! More often than not the tickets are FAKE. You wont be allowed in and they will be confiscated at the ticket gates.
