San Francisco Cable Cars
 "The
San Francisco cable car system is the world's last permanently
operational manually-operated cable car system, and is an icon of San
Francisco.

cable car system forms part of the intermodal urban transport network
operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway, or MUNI.
Cable cars operate on two routes from downtown near Union Square
to Fisherman's Wharf, and a third route along California Street."

Cable Car Riding Tips:
- Get in line EARLY if you want to start at the
"Turnabout" on weekends! You can end up waiting 3-4 hours just to get
on in the afternoon.
- Fares cover ONE WAY only! Your best bet to save money
is to get a San Francisco CityPass or an One-Day/All-Day Passport sold for
$13 by the conductors on the cable cars.
- Watch your step, your limbs and your head! It sounds
like common sense but there have been way
too many accidents on San Francisco cable cars.. so BE CAREFUL
& always watch your surroundings!
- Be aware of pick-pockets. Cable cars can get crowded
- especially on the weekends. Keep your valuables in your sight at all
times.

Inbound toward Powell & Market.

Cable Car Fares
* Adult and youth, ages 5 to 17: $5 each ride, a
single ride on a single cable car vehicle.
* Senior, ages 65 or older; disabled; Medicare card
holder:
o before 7 a.m.:
$2 each ride effective July 1. Valid ID required.
o 7 a.m. to 9
p.m.: $5 each way .
o after 9 p.m.:
$2 each ride effective July 1. Valid ID required.
Cable Cars are available
