San Francisco Potrero Hill
In
1835 Potrero Hill was rolling hills of green pasture for cattle; but
soon after the Gold Rush, Potrero Nuevo (the original name), became an
urbanized and integrated bustling neighborhood.
Located past the Mission District,
Potrero Hill has one of the best views of the San Francisco skyline;
along with some of the best bars, music venues and restaurants, all
within a few blocks; and even though it is one of the more
"industrialized" San Francisco neighborhoods, tucked away from the
yuppie culture, it is sought after by all backgrounds.
Since Potrero Hill is zoned mainly for business, it is home to several
big, local companies like:
The San
Francisco Guardian - a weekly, free alternative newspaper.
The California Culinary Academy main campus takes up a whole block and
the headquarters for the Discovery channels' Mythbusters is located at
the southern edge of the neighborhood.
Also, the new online gaming company Zynga has its' offices located in
Potrero
Hill and Anchor Steam Brewing Company (est. 1896) has called this
neighborhood its' home since 1979.
A few famous people have also come out of Potrero Hill, including the
famous (or infamous) OJ Simpson, and in his honor there are several
murals around the neighborhood, portraying his accomplishments in
football.

The "Real Crookedest
Street" in San Francisco: No it is NOT Lombard street. It is
Vermont street between 20th & 22nd. This 2 block nest of hairpin

Anchor
Steam Brewing Company: "Anchor Brewing has played a significant
role in San Francisco's rich history. Anchor's eight unique
beers—including Anchor Steam®—are all produced in one of the most
traditional and handsome breweries in the world.
Each brew is virtually handmade from an all-malt mash in our
handcrafted copper brewhouse, a veritable museum of the simple,
traditional breweries of old." anchorbrewing.com
